82 steps lead up to the keep of the Löwenstein castle ruins. It is the best-preserved part of the former hilltop castle, which was first mentioned in the 13th century. Anyone who climbs the 26 meter high tower will be rewarded with a magnificent view over Bad Zwesten, the Urfftal, the Schwalmporte and the Knüllgebirge. At the foot of the castle, in a beautiful, rustic half-timbered house, a snack station supplies visitors with regional specialties. Around the castle, the 7,5 kilometer long geocache route “The Lion Trail” invites you to go on a treasure hunt in the magical nature.
