Route 2 stays longer on the Kellerwaldsteig through the Heimbach Valley and leads past Reckenberg Castle. This castle-like manor house sits atop the remains of a medieval moated castle. There, the circular route also reaches the wildly romantic Orke Valley. The trail follows the valley slope of the turbulently flowing river toward Niederorke. Shortly before reaching Niederorke, it turns around, crosses the Orke River over an adventurous suspension bridge, and finally returns up the Heimbach after 8 kilometers.
