Over thousands of years, the stream has cut deep into layers of rock that were created 400 million years ago at the bottom of an ancient sea or ejected by volcanoes. Rock formations made of limestone, slate, quartzite and diabase are exposed. These include the hiking cliff on the Orthberg made of Kellerwald quartzite and a limestone band. The Kellerwald Agate, an iron pebble, is available from the gemstone cutting shop in Bergfreiheit.

Arrival & Parking
We recommend traveling to Bad Zwesten via the federal highways B3 and B485.
To get to the official starting point "Urfftal - Freizeitteichanlage" near Bad Zwesten-Oberurff-Schiffelborn, continue on the B3 towards the south and turn right onto Niederurffer Str. (entrance to Oberurff-Schiffelborn). Then immediately left onto Frankfurter Str., which leads to K61 (Bergfreiheiter Str.). Turn left here towards Bergfreiheit. Shortly after leaving Oberurff-Schiffelborn you will find the starting point on the right.
Line 410 - Borken-Bad Zwesten-Bad Wildungen
A particularly large catchment area can be reached with bus line 410: These buses run between Borken and Bad Wildungen (here DB connections) every hour and take Bad Zwesten and Oberurff along half of them!
Routes 407 and 411 (school buses)
Lines 407 and 411 complement Bad Zwesten and Oberurff on the Hessian school days.
AST - call share taxis
With CallSammelTaxis (AST), the NVV ensures mobility on routes that are not in great demand. Instead of taking the bus, you can travel here in normal taxis or rental cars. AST also have fixed timetables - you just have to register your wish to travel by telephone (usually) up to 30 minutes before the journey. Also remember that AST only run when there are no normal buses running at the same time.
Call shared taxi center: +49 (0) 800-9390800
All connections can be clearly seen via the NVV timetable information!
