Circular route 1 from the Mühlenberg hiking car park in the village of Herzhausen takes us over the ridge of the Mühlenberg.

Circular Trail 1 is approximately 7 km long and takes us uphill in serpentines above the Herzhausen National Park train station through dense beech forests. We walk over the ridge of the Mühlenberg toward Fürstenberg. We stay in the forest and meet the Kellerwaldsteig trail. We follow this trail through the Mombeck Valley back to the hiking car park.

In Herzhausen, not far from the Mühlenberg hiking car park, is the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park Center. Here, we learn fascinating information about the national park and also have the opportunity to stop for a bite to eat in the adjacent café.
