This circular hiking trail is one of the 16 "Kellerwald Jewels" and offers pure nature and magnificent views: Experience the diversity of nature with heathland, juniper stands, and panoramic views on the 4,6 km long Schierberg Circular Trail 1.
The "Kellerwald Jewels" are characterized by their scenic forest trails and breathtaking views. These carefully selected routes range in length from approximately 4,5 km to almost 15 km. If you enjoy this hike, feel free to discover other gems of the Kellerwald and Edersee region.
The 4,6 km long Schierberg circular trail 1 starts at the Schierberg hiking car park in Armsfeld and takes you along the juniper path through a fascinating landscape with old juniper stands. The valuable heath and lean grassland areas are maintained and preserved by sheep grazing and the removal of trees.
The path initially runs parallel to the Hüttenroder Bach through meadows and fields, crosses it and leads up towards Schierberg. Along the edge of the forest you will be treated to varied views of the cultural landscape of the Kellerwald: of the Ohrberg, the town of Armsfeld and the Hohen Keller with the Wüstegarten, the highest mountain in the Kellerwald.
A large part of the route runs along natural paths. From the edge of the forest, you cross a meadow back to Armsfeld before you arrive back at the hiking car park.
