The route leads through the forest at the Salzleckenkopf past the sequoia tree and barrow into the gorge of the Talgraben. The fire salamander feels at home in the moist habitat between the stream and the ravine forest. Accompanied by the gurgling of the stream, surrounded by steep, rocky slopes, you pass Stahl and the valley spring, both of which invite you to take a healthy refreshment. Volcanism that occurred millions of years ago still causes huge amounts of carbonic acid to rise from the depths, which raise the groundwater to the spring outlets. Between the two health resorts of Bad Wildungen and Bad Zwesten there are a large number of these springs with very different water compositions. If you want to see the impressive waterfall, you have to follow the Kellerwaldsteig a little further.
