Waldeck Switzerland stretches between Niederorke and Dalwigksthal. The hiking trail of the same name leads through forests, meadows and mountains along a river.

The Waldecksche Schweiz hiking trail is anything but boring, as there are many changes in scenery along the way. The course of the Orke river and the mountains of the Sauerland mountain range play a crucial role. One or two inclines have to be overcome along the way. However, the path rewards these efforts with breathtaking views in many places.

The hike becomes even more interesting through sights such as Reckenberg Castle and Lichtenfels Castle.

It is very easy to start the circular hiking trail at the hiking car parks.

The path in 2 circular routes (approx. 10km each):

1) Start of the Heimbachtal WP: After 3 km you will see the sign “Alternative route to the Lichtenfelser Panoramaweg”. It leads over a footbridge over the Orke. On the other side of the river you can follow the markings of the “Waldecksche Schweiz” hiking trail again.

2) Start WP Orketal: The Orke is also crossed at the footbridge. You walk the alternative route in the opposite direction.
